Su di me

As child I used to play looking for treasures in the ancient Etruscan ruins Now I carve wood looking for hidden treasures

My clothes are perpetually covered in wood dust

My skin smells like wood

My lungs contain trees I am happy

I was born in Cerveteri a small town north of Rome and I grew up among the sweet scent of strawberries and peaches

When I was six I helped my parents to carry the boxes of strawberries from the greenhouse to the truck

Since I was eight I woke up at down I got on the tractor and drove slowly through the peach trees Behind the trailer were my family picking the ripe fruits

As a teenager with a group of friends I spent afternoons in the ancient Etruscan ruins of the necropolis of Cerveteri There we collected fragments of vases as if they were incredible treasures pieces of a mysterious story that we felt as ours

At fifteen I made my first sculpture It was a long particularly cold winter afternoon Next to the wood stove there was a basket with peach logs I took one I looked at it I liked its dark red color With a knife I began to round the top Then I launched myself to make a small head

I still have that head It marks the beginning of my great passion for sculpture
